About Me
My name is Mary Ella Spivey. My husband, Weston, and I have been married for one year. After the wedding, I relocated from my hometown in Andalusia to Slocomb, Alabama. My husband serves as County Commissioner and was recently re-elected.

In our spare time we enjoy spending time at the beach and going on nature walks with our dog, Harley.
I have an adopted little brother, JT, and a niece named Ella Claire whom I enjoy spending time with.
We are a member of New Hinson Baptist Church in Slocomb, Al. We enjoy Sunday morning service and visiting with our community members.

I was connected to an organization called Wiregrass Hope Group in Dothan, Al. This organization is very close to my heart and I am honored I have the opportunity to serve and donate to the organization when I am able. Upon graduation, I do plan to take on a greater role within this organization. I will link them below to anyone who may want to know more.

Where I've Been
I received my associate's degree from Lurleen B Wallace Community College, where I worked as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) while completing my registered nurse (RN) degree. I went straight to Auburn University at Montgomery and received my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN). While completing BSN coursework, I worked as an RN at Andalusia Health in the Birthing Center.

Although I have a passion for women's health, I transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where I could be able to work day shift to manage coursework at Auburn University in the master's program.

Throughout my RN career, I also completed a contract with Lurleen B Wallace Community College teaching associate degree nursing students clinical rotations.

Where I'm Going
I am set to graduate with a Master of Science in Nursing degree from the Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (PCNP) program at Auburn University in May 2023. I look forward to expanding my nursing career as a PCNP upon graduation and licensure.

I chose to become a nurse practitioner (NP) to further my education and provide more direct patient care. I have witnessed the need for professional nurses that strive to provide compassionate nursing care. As an ICU nurse, I have cared for patients with various illnesses and conditions where advanced care is needed. As a future NP, I look forward to managing patients throughout not only acute but chronic disease states.

As a nurse practitioner candidate graduating in May with four years of nursing experience, I have a steadfast commitment to seek employment as a dedicated team member to serve my community. I plan to provide quality, cost-effective care while utilizing evidence-based approaches. While transitioning to the NP role, I am dedicated to learning the needed skills and knowledge to be a proficient healthcare provider. I look forward to beginning my career as an NP to serve patients with acute and chronic health conditions.
